Skender converted a brand-new office space into a two-story lab and office in Fulton Market for Hazel Technologies, a company developing solutions to extend the shelf life of fresh produce.

The specialized space features open research and lab support. It includes a pilot lab, dry lab, sensory lab, wet lab, engineering lab and innovation lab, as well as 10,000 SF of administrative and office space and 5,000 SF of collaboration space, including several meeting rooms, huddle rooms, and prep and tasting rooms. The conversion brought unique challenges, including new MEP infrastructure in the wall shaft, spanning from the garage floor to the attic. Several infrastructure customizations, such as new air handling, general and fume exhaust, new boilers, and uninterrupted power supply generators, were also part of the complex conversion process.
